After dominating every competition they played in till April, it was a strange end to the season for Barcelona as the club ended the campaign with only a league title in the bag.
The Catalan club faced another humiliation in Europe, this time at the hands of Liverpool and to put the final nail in the coffin, Valencia defeated Messi and co. in the Copa del Rey final in the last game of the season.
However, the Blaugrana club seem to have pushed aside the memories of the last term and have already made three signings. One each in defence, midfield and attack to strengthen the squad for the upcoming campaign.
With the summer proceedings far from over and some more new faces likely to arrive, it’s expected that the club will look to offload players in the summer.
Let’s look at the three candidates who can move out on loan from Camp Nou before the termination of the summer transfer window.
Malcom
The Brazilian, who signed from Ligue 1 club Bordeaux for £36.5m last summer, enjoyed limited opportunities in his debut season at Camp Nou, which had less to do with his potential and more with the manager Ernesto Valverde’s attitude towards young players.
And with the Catalan club fishing in the transfer market for Paris Saint-Germain and former player Neymar Jr. and the signing of Antoine Griezmann already completed, it’s highly unlikely that the scenario will change anytime soon for the 22-year-old.
The Spanish giants have slapped a price tag of £50m on the former Girondins and Bordeaux player who has garnered interest from some Premier League clubs and are also willing to listen to loan offers for the Brazilian.
Carles Alena
The 21-year-old rose through the ranks at Barcelona and was promoted to first-team action last year in December.
He featured for a total of 1076 minutes for the senior team across all competitions, however, with Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal still at the club and the arrival of Dutch sensation Frenkie de Jong, it is bound to have an adverse effect on the Spaniard’s playing time.
The 21-year-old is entering that stage in his career where he needs playing time more than ever to cement his place among the world’s elite seeing his potential.
It sounds only reasonable that the La Masia product is shipped out on loan elsewhere till the time the Blaugrana club sort out the unnecessary traffic in midfield.
Moussa Wague
The Senegalese international is another upcoming star from the famous youth academy and earned his promotion to the senior squad at the dawn of the month.
Wague, who has a contract until 2023, is only 20 years of age and has shown huge potential to be a starter for the Spanish giants in the future.
He also featured for Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt and made 3 appearances for Barcelona last season.
However, with Sergi Roberto and Nelson Semedo occupying the right-back spot, it would be wise to loan the right-footed defender to avoid any hindrance to the player’s development.
