Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Danish winger Andreas Skov Olsen, it has been reported.
The young Dane will cost €17 million in the current transfer market, according to a report from the Daily Mirror.
The 19-year-old has garnered interest after an excellent season with Nordsjaelland in the Danish top-flight (Superligaen).
Olsen plundered 26 goals and 6 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions in the recently concluded campaign.
Signing Olsen would be a shrewd move by Pochettino
Olsen predominantly features as a inverted winger on the right, and possesses the ability to switch flanks if needed.
The Nordsjaelland attacker broke into the under-21 national side at just 17 years of age after earlier representing his nation at the under-18 and under-19 level.
The teenager also made the jump at the club level moving from the Nordsjaelland under-19 side to the senior squad last year in January, and has drawn the attention of the big clubs across Europe in a short span of time which speaks volumes of his potential.
Olsen is excellent on the ball, and dribbling is one of is strengths. He uses his pace and low centre of gravity to glide past defenders on the pitch, which is a joy to watch at times.
The 19-year old is also good with his crossing, so he can be used as a left winger to stretch play before whipping in a dangerous delivery.
Pochettino has a good track record of developing young talents like Olsen, so the 19-year old will have a bright future ahead of him should he make the move to north London.
Obviously, he won’t be a guaranteed starter with the likes of Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min and Dele Alli ahead of him, but he has the abilities that Pochettino can work on to eventually mould Olsen into a first team regular in the coming years.
The Dane is entering the last 12 months of his contract, so Nordsjaelland are likely to sell him this summer instead of losing him free next year or on a cheaper fee in January.
Spurs could do with a few fresh faces in their team, and Olsen, who won’t cost the club a fortune, would be a shrewd addition to the team.
