Tottenham Hotspur, after a disappointing end to the 2018-19 season where they lost to Liverpool in the Champions League final, will look to add some quality players to the side, and once again challenge in the Premier League and Europe next season.
Spurs have now been linked with PSV Eindhoven attacker Hirving Lozano, as per Italian source Calcionapoli24.
The 23-year-old was also linked with Manchester United, but that transfer seems to have fallen through, while Napoli are reportedly still keen to sign him.
Hirving Lozano – Profile
Lozano has had two splendid seasons at the Dutch club since signing from Pachuca in 2017.
In the recently concluded 2018-19 season, Lozano finished with 21 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions, while also registering 12 assists in the process.
The Mexican attacker has been one of the most important players for PSV over the last two seasons, scoring 40 goals in the two seasons for the club.
Lozano has also been an important player for the national team, scoring 9 times, including a goal against 2014 World Champions Germany in the 2018 World Cup.
The versatile attacker still has four years left on the six-year contract he signed with PSV Eindhoven in 2017.
Hirving Lozano is the freshness Tottenham’s attack needs
Spurs need to add a few players in the summer to strengthen their team, which looked a little thin in certain areas.
Fernando Llorente looks set to be released by the club, while the future of Vincent Janssen looks bleak following yet another poor season for the Dutchman.
Lozano could be a player who could freshen up the Spurs attack as well as add depth to the squad.
The Mexican is a player who can play on both wings, and is also capable of playing as a striker. Lozano is a quick player who is a good dribbler of the ball, and often moves into deadly areas in the centre of the pitch. Although right-footed, Lozano has a strong left foot, and is a great crosser of the ball.
An accurate shooter from inside or outside the box, the Mexican is a goal threat whenever he gets the ball in forward positions, while he also has the vision to make goal-scoring opportunities.
Spurs play a narrow game with attacking wing-backs, which is a system that Lozano would fit perfectly in to.
