Real Madrid want Paris Saint-Germain superstar and former Barcelona attacker Neymar, it has been reported.
Galacticos have already made five signings so far in the summer transfer window, but are expected to keep going and add more firepower to their team.
The Meringues have offered PSG a sum of €130 million plus Gareth Bale or James Rodriguez, according to a report from Spanish-based outlet Mundo Deportivo.
Seeing the amount of money being splashed, the capital club will have to sell some players as well, and they have been doing that too.
In order to balance the books, the departures from the Santiago Bernabeu have already started, with Marcos Llorente being the first name on the list.
A wise move by Real Madrid to go after Neymar?
The capital club are keen on selling Bale and Rodriguez, but haven’t found clubs who are interested in the attacking pair. This deal will ensure Madrid offload one of the two men that Zidane doesn’t have in his future plans.
However, the dark clouds regarding FFP rules still hover over Santiago Bernabeu, since the deal will only increase the club’s net spend.
While no one can doubt Neymar’s ability, the Brazilian hasn’t lived up to his name at Parc des Princes.
The former Barcelona star has had two not so great seasons in the French capital so far, and hasn’t exactly done anything worthwhile at the international stage either.
The Ligue 1 champions failed to live up to the expectations in the Champions League, and Neymar’s selfish play, coupled with the showman attitude off it hasn’t helped.
While Neymar remains arguably the top three players in the world, his recent antics both on and off the pitch have only made matters worse.
Neymar isn’t exactly on Nasser Al Khelaifi’s good books as the Brazilian was on the receiving end of some harsh words from the PSG president earlier in the week.
This move will not only hit the Galacticos financially, but it will also act as a roadblock in the development of their younger players in Marco Asensio, Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo Goes.
Los Blancos also need a midfielder this summer window, and going for Neymar could cause adverse effects as none of their targets in Paul Pogba or Christian Eriksen will cost anything less than a €100 million.
Considering they just signed Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic, they should avoid making the move for Neymar.
