Liverpool linked with robust Turkish midfield ace: A good option to consider for Klopp

After a great 2018-19 campaign, Liverpool will once again try to replicate all the good things they did right in the season and hope to go one step further in the league. The Reds need to make one or two changes to the squad to add depth and challenge Manchester City once again.

One player that the Merseyside club have been linked with is Turkish international Dorukhan Toköz, as per Fotomac. The report claims that Besiktas, the club he is with currently, are demanding €10 million for Toko. The Turkish club have reportedly rejected a transfer offer of  £6.25 million from Italian club Udinese.

Tokoz joined Besiktas from Eskisehirspor in last summer’s transfer window after the expiry of his contract. In his first season at Besiktas, Tokoz played 25 games in all competitions for the Turkish side, scoring thrice and assisting thrice. His good form for his club earned him his first cap for Turkey earlier this year, and he has since gone on to make 4 more appearances for his country, scoring once.

Tokoz’s current contract with Besiktas expires in 2021, with the player having signed a three-year deal with them in 2018.

What will he bring to the Liverpool side?

Dorukhan Tokoz is primarily a defensive midfielder, but he has shown that he can play well as a central midfielder, while also being able to fill in as a right-back whenever required. The 23-year-old midfielder is a great tackler of the ball, with aggression to win the ball back at any cost on display on several occasions. The Turkish midfielder is a strong and powerful operator in midfield who tries to press and win the ball back whenever his team loses it.

Tokoz has great energy in midfield and work-rate to go up and down the pitch. The versatile player is also a good passer of the ball, keeping the ball ticking with his accurate short passing.

The Turkish international could be a useful squad player at Liverpool who can do more than one thing well as well as his ability to play multiple roles and has the potential to end up as a canny acquisition in the future. A small transfer fee ensures that signing him is worth the gamble.
