Leicester City had a good second half of the 2018-19 season under new manager Brendan Rodgers, and they could continue that good momentum in the new season with a few additions to their squad.
The Foxes reportedly want to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, as per Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb cited by the Leicester Mercury.
The report claims that the player could be bought for £31 million. Perisic’s Inter Milan contract expires in 2022, the one he signed in 2017. The Croatian joined the club from Wolfsburg in 2015 for a fee of €16 million.
The 30-year-old was linked with a move to Manchester United last season, but that did not materialise and he ended up staying with the Italian club.
Ivan Perisic – Profile
Since joining Inter in 2015, Perisic has played 163 games for the club, scoring 40 goals for the club.
In the 2018-19 season, the Croatian played 45 games for the club, scoring 9 goals and 8 assists, after a remarkable 2018 World Cup where he helped Croatia reach the final.
The experienced Croatian winger has represented his country on 82 occasions, scoring 23 goals since making his debut in 2011, including one in the 2018 World Cup final against France.
Perisic would be a top addition to Leicester City
A year or two ago, Ivan Perisic was possibly one of the best wingers in the world, which resulted in several clubs pursuing his signature.
Perisic would be a great signing for Leicester City to take the Foxes to the next level under Rodgers.
The Croatian is a skilful player who has the technical ability to beat defenders and either get a shot in on goal or set up a teammate in a better good position.
The tall winger likes to cut inside from the left and pass or cross with his favourite right foot.
Perisic is also a disciplined worker on the left side and likes to move up and down the left side. He is good at holding up the ball and working it up the field.
Leicester used Demarai Gray on the left side in the 2018-19 season, but don’t have too many quality backup options on the left with James Maddison being the other option.
Perisic would add great depth to the Leicester City squad which has lacked a high-quality winger since the departure of Riyad Mahrez last year.
