Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is keen on bringing new players ahead of the 2019-20 Championship season as the Whites have been linked with quite a few lately.
The Championship side have been rumoured to be interested in Wolves pair of Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa, while other wingers like Ryan Kent and Brandon Barker have also attracted interest.
The latest player to be linked with a move to Leeds is Liverpool’s Ovie Ejaria, as per Courtney Friday, formerly of Reading Chronicle.
The 21-year-old Liverpool player has been heavily linked with a return to Reading (where he spent the second half of the 2018-19 season on loan) who are the favourites to bring him back to the club, but Leeds are eyeing a late move to hijack the deal.
Ovie Ejaria – Profile
Ejaria joined Reading on loan in January 2019 after spending the first half of the season at Rangers, who are managed by former Liverpool player Steven Gerrard. The midfielder played over 40 games last season, scoring thrice and assisting thrice.
After an impressive start to his career at Rangers, Ejaria couldn’t maintain the consistency which led to a drab end to his loan spell.
The English midfielder joined Liverpool in 2014 after coming through the ranks at Arsenal.
Ejaria has made 8 appearances for the Merseyside club’s senior team, but hasn’t been able to break into the first team set-up on a regular basis. He has spent the last two seasons on loan, playing for Sunderland in the 2017-18 season, before his loan spells at Rangers and Reading.
Would Ejaria be a good fit under Bielsa?
Ejaria is a talented young midfielder who can play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder or as a wide attacker for his team.
The Englishman is quick and skilful, and likes to dribble and run at defences from midfield. An all-action midfielder, Ejaria covers a lot of grass in every game with his darting runs and is a decent passer of the ball as well.
He is also a player who likes to press and contribute defensively for his team, which would make him a great fit in Bielsa’s pressing game.
Ejaria would fit in well in Bielsa’s 4-1-4-1 formation at Leeds United, who desperately needed a few more bodies in midfield at the end of the season.
The Liverpool player can certainly learn and improve his game under a manager like Bielsa.
