Norwich City eyeing a transfer for Ghanaian fullback: A deal Farke needs to make

Antwerp defender Daniel Opare has emerged as a subject of interest for the newly promoted Premier League side Norwich City.

The Sun has claimed that Norwich City are closely monitoring Opare who is available for £500,000. Apart from the Canaries, Aston Villa are also believed to be in the race to make him sign on the dotted line.

The right-back has just one year left in his current contract with Antwerp and the Belgian outfit understandably will loathe losing him for free next summer.

Having clinched promotion to the English top flight, Norwich City and Aston Villa are desperate to beef up their arsenal and it would be interesting to see if either of the two sides manage to acquire Opare’s signature.

Daniel Opare: Profile

Opare signed for Antwerp last summer and previously, he had spells at Real Madrid B, Porto, Standard Liege, Augsburg, Besiktas and Lens. He is a battle-hardened defender with a considerable amount of experience under his belt.

Besides, the 28-year-old has also represented the Ghanaian national side on a few occasions. He was in their squad during the 2014 World Cup and started in Ghana’s 2-1 defeat against the USA in the opening game.

He mustered 23 appearances for Antwerp during the previous season helping them secure a place in the Europa League following their fourth-place finish in the Belgian top division.

Why Norwich City should sign him

Under the tutelage of Daniel Farke, Norwich City clinched the Championship title last season and considering that they would lock horns against the top English sides in the upcoming season, some additions are required.

Opare is a formidable right-back and dribbling and tackling are two of his strongest suits. He is commendable in the air and has a strong physicality which will help him withstand the rigours of the Premier League if his move to Norwich City materialises.

He is an incessant runner on the right flank, regularly joining his teammates further up the pitch. But that does not mean he falls short on the defensive front as his work-rate allows him to track back and perform his primary defensive duties as well.

With Ivo Pinto making a move to Dinamo Zagreb and Felix Passlack returning to his parent club Borussia Dortmund after his loan spell at the Carrow Road, Norwich City do need some cover at right-back for Max Aarons.

The Yellows are not expected to break the bank this summer and considering the knockdown price Opare is reportedly available for, he could be a shrewd and an important signing for the club.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved more it has generated at least $17 billion in the U.S.
