Opinion: Liverpool and Arsenal prospects among players Leeds United should sign on loan

Leeds United had a spectacular run in the first half of the 2018-19 Championship season, where they led the table, but squandered their lead and fell down the table in the second half of the season. Marcelo Bielsa’s team were then knocked out of the Championship semi-finals by Derby County and lost their chance of getting promoted to the Premier League.

But, overall, Leeds had a good season under Bielsa, who brought a different style of football to the club. The Argentine manager has decided to stay at the club for another year, hoping to take them to the Premier League in his second attempt.

Bielsa needs to refresh his squad and add a few players who can play his style of football. He was successful in signing a few players on loan, with Jack Harrison of Manchester City impressing and becoming a key part of the team.

Which players could Bielsa recruit in the summer from Premier League clubs? Let’s take a look at 3 players Leeds should look to loan from the Premier League:

Ben Woodburn – Liverpool

One of the most talented youngsters to come out of Anfield in recent years, Ben Woodburn is touted to become an important player for the Premier League side in the future. Woodburn hasn’t had too many opportunities at the Merseyside club in the last year or more but did go on loan to Championship side Sheffield United, where he featured in 8 matches for the club.

A quick and skilful attacking midfielder and winger, Woodburn has the technical ability to become an important player for Leeds. The 19-year-old needs game time to progress and further his growth and Leeds could provide the perfect platform for him.

Tosin Adarabioyo – Manchester City

Tosin Adarabioyo is one of the many talented players to have come through the Manchester City academy having joined the club when he was 5. The 21-year-old centre back made his senior debut in 2016, and although he hasn’t featured much since, he had a successful loan spell at West Bromwich Albion in the Championship in the 2018-19 season.

The 6’5″ centre back made 36 appearances in all competitions for the club. Adarabioyo is a good tackler of the ball and is a leader at the back, while he also has the versatility of playing at right full-back.

Eddie Nketiah – Arsenal

20-year-old Eddie Nketiah has shown glimpses of what he is capable of in the few appearances that he has made for Arsenal over the last two seasons. The striker, a hard-working and quick player with good dribbling abilities, made 8 appearances for the Arsenal senior team, scoring once, while starring for the U-23 side, scoring 10 times.

The young English striker needs to play consistently and a spell in the Championship with Bielsa’s side will help him in his career while offering the Whites an exciting prospect to utilise in the coming season.
