Tottenham Hotspur eyeing a move for versatile full-back: A good fit under Poch

Tottenham Hotspur might be closing in on a deal for the English prodigy Ryan Sessegnon, who saw his side get relegated to the Championship earlier in the season.

According to a report from DailyMail, Tottenham Hotspur are moving in on Ryan Sessegnon, with a few negotiations yet to be carried out.

Fulham have set the price tag for the 18-year-old at £40m, but Spurs want to bring the English International for a fee closer to £25m. Paris Saint-Germain are another club interested in the young English International.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has taken the north London club to the UEFA Champions League final without spending a single dime in the last two transfer windows, so it’s about time the club made a move for someone talented.

Ryan Sessegnon: A nice fit into Pochettino’s philosophy

Pochettino, who usually sets up his team in a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 or a 3-5-2 depending upon certain factors, would love to have a player like Sessegnon by his side. The 18-year-old, soon to be 19, is quite multifaceted and with pace and fitness working in his favour, he is an asset to any team out there.

Sessegnon has mostly featured as a left-sided midfielder, and a left-back in his career. No matter which position he plays, the youngster has always covered the entirety of the left side of the pitch, giving his 100% for the team. His positional play, vision and awareness on the pitch are commendable for his age, and who better than Pochettino to bring out the young man’s potential?

Most of Sessegnon’s goals have come from inside the box and on most occasions, it was his own doing which made the move for the goal possible in the first place. The 18-year-old’s poaching instincts in front of goal is another one of his many qualities which makes him such a bright prospect for the future.

Sessegnon still has a long way to go, though. His tendency to hold onto the ball for far too long has left him open to criticism on numerous occasions. Despite all that, his astonishing work-rate and a smart footballing brain make up for most of his nuances which helps him stay an asset for the team at the end of the day.

One can expect of him to elevate his game to the next level playing in this Tottenham Hotspur side under Pochettino, who has completely changed the outlook of the club.
