Tottenham Hotspur are set to compete with Serie A champions Juventus for PSG outcast Adrien Rabiot in the summer transfer window, it has been claimed.
Rabiot has been in the wilderness as PSG boss Thomas Tuchel hasn’t used the Frenchman since December after he refused to commit his future to the club.
A free agent in the summer, Rabiot is expected to attract a lot of attention as the midfielder is a talented player and a full time international.
According to Calciomercato, Tottenham who are looking to strengthen in the summer, will have to compete with Juventus as Barcelona and Real Madrid are now out of the race.
Tottenham Hotspur have the advantage when it comes to signing Adrien Rabiot
Rabiot hasn’t played a game since 2020, and considering the first thing on his agenda will be to get the chance to play regularly, Juventus might not be the smartest of destinations.
The Old Lady have several midfielders in their squad, so Rabiot is unlikely to be a regular at the club. Considering they will also add Aaron Ramsey to their squad in the summer, that midfield might be packed next season.
Tottenham, on the other hand, seem to have the quantity, but compared to the Juventus midfield, the quality isn’t the same which gives Rabiot a better chance to make it to the first team on a regular basis.
Compared to Juventus’ midfield, Tottenham seem to have players who are more adept at breaking play.
The likes of Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama and Oliver Skipp are central midfielders who emphasise on the defensive aspect on the game, and Rabiot’s ability to maraud forward owing to his incredible dribbling ability will hold him in good stead if he makes the move to north London.
With the Euro 2020 set to take place in 2020, Rabiot needs to move to a club where he can play regularly for a whole year to get back in contention for a starting berth in the French national team.
Spurs are expected to make it to the Champions League as well, and if they can manage that, there is no reason why Rabiot should not move to north London.
