Leicester City will hope to cause yet another upset when they travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City on Monday.
The Foxes picked up a 3-0 win against Arsenal, and a win against Manchester City could potentially tarnish Pep Guardiola’s hopes of retaining the league title.
Leicester City team news
Daniel Amartey will remain the only injury-related absentee for Leicester City on their trip to Manchester. The defender suffered a nasty leg injury last year and is unlikely to feature during the rest of the campaign. Aside from that, Brendan Rodgers will have the privilege of selecting from a fully fit Leicester City squad.
Predicted Leicester City lineup vs Manchester City
Defence
The defence was rock solid in the 3-0 win over Arsenal last weekend. And we expect Rodgers to opt for the same defensive combination on Monday.
Jonny Evans will continue to start over Wes Morgan and Caglar Soyuncu in central defence. He should start alongside the ever-present figure of Harry Maguire at the heart of Leicester’s four-man backline. They will both play a crucial role as the visitors will look to contain the mighty Man City attack.
Ricardo Pereira will continue to deputise for the injured Amartey in the right-back position. The Portuguese, however, could operate a little deeper than usual given the nature of the fixture.
Elsewhere, Manchester City target Ben Chilwell will be deployed on the left back position, where he will likely be up against the experienced Kyle Walker.
Kasper Schmeichel will retain his place in goal. The Dane has kept two clean sheets in his last three matches and will be hoping to maintain his good run of form.
Midfield
Hamza Choudhury may retain his place in the starting lineup, having impressed in the win over Arsenal. The 21-year-old will be partnered by Wilfried Ndidi and Youri Tielemans in central defence.
Choudhury’s aggression and dynamism will be key in dealing with the technically superior midfielders of Manchester City. Ndidi and Tielemans, meanwhile, will be tasked with the responsibility of providing more urgency in midfield.
Attack
The newly implemented 4-5-1 shape will force Harvey Barnes out of the starting lineup, with key playmaker James Maddison likely to shift into the left wing position.
Marc Albrighton, on the other hand, has impressed since the returning to full fitness. He will start over Demarai on the opposite flank while the Leicester City attack will be spearheaded by the club’s top scorer in Jamie Vardy.
