Manchester City are among the clubs interested in Kylian Mbappe, after he dropped a huge PSG exit hint, it has been claimed.
Mbappe has dropped a hint about his potential departure from PSG in the near future, as he said he wants to be more responsible for his team, which might be PSG or some other club.
“It is maybe the moment to have more responsibilities, maybe at PSG, with pleasure, or elsewhere for a new project,” Mbappe said after receiving the Ligue 1 POTY award.
This has put Manchester City, along with Barcelona and Real Madrid on red alert, according to Express, while PSG coach Thomas Tuchel also looked visibly surprised after Mbappe’s comments.
Kylian Mbappe: A top and ambitious target for Manchester City
Manchester City have enjoyed two fantastic seasons under Pep Guardiola. But, the Catalan is known to be a perfectionist and will be keen to add more quality to his side this summer.
The attacking department, in particular, remains an issue. German international Leroy Sane has already been a subject of intense transfer speculation, with Bayern Munich reportedly interested. Riyad Mahrez, on the other hand, has had a mixed debut campaign at the Etihad, despite showing good form in the final stage of the season.
As for Gabriel Jesus, it was a disastrous campaign for the Brazilian. He scored seven goals in 29 matches but struggled to make an impression in the first-team, mustering just over 1,000 minutes of league football this season. Hence, the addition of someone like Mbappe will certainly revamp the Man City attack.
The Frenchman is regarded as one of the best players in world football. At the age of just 20, he has had a stellar record in the French top flight, having scored 61 goals in 96 matches, 32 of which have come in this corresponding season, with one game still left to play.
From a tactical perspective, Mbappe is a versatile attacker, who can be accommodated in either as a left-winger or a centre-forward. He has been potent in the number nine role this season and so partnering him up with Sergio Aguero will make Manchester City an unstoppable force in attack next season.
That being said, PSG are no pressure of selling Mbappe, whose current contract at the club expires in 2023. It is also unlikely they will want to let go of their star attacker anytime soon. And though a move away from Parc des Princes could be on the cards in nigh future, it’s absurd to think that the Frenchman will want to leave PSG just a season after joining the club on a permanent basis.
