Arsenal are eyeing a move for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, according to reports.
The Gunners are expected to face competition from Manchester United, who are also interested in re-signing their former player.
According to the Sun, Arsenal are lining up a £40 million offer for Zaha, but the Eagles want at least £80 million for their star attacker.
The Gunners could include the likes of Callum Chambers, Reiss Nelson or Carl Jenkinson to sweeten the deal.
Zaha has expressed his aspiration to play Champions League football which might pose an issue for the Gunners should they fail to win the Europa League final against Chelsea and miss out.
What will Wilfried Zaha bring to Arsenal?
The Ivorian is a versatile forward who mainly features as a left winger, but can play up top as well. He has played as a right winger, and in a more central role on numerous occasions at Selhurst Park, and has done well.
Zaha scored 10 goals and provided five assists in the 34 appearances in the recently concluded Premier League season, and was a key player for the Eagles. The 26-year-old also scored in a 3-2 win at Emirates in April, hurting the Gunners in the race for the top four at the time.
The former Manchester United attacker is known for his magnificent dribbling ability, and has developed the other aspects of his game. His passing, through balls and key-passes in the attacking phases of the game makes him a good target for Arsenal as they could do with a bit more creative spark next season.
There are still a few areas where he can get better, which includes his crossing, and finishing. He does have a bit of a temper as well, but that is more down to the fact that he is often fouled by opposition players who can’t deal with his quick feet.
At 26, he still has his peak years ahead of him, and would be a worthy addition to the Gunners should they get him for a fee of £40 million.
Emery, who has already lost Aaron Ramsey to Juventus on a free transfer, will be looking to bolster the Arsenal squad, and someone like Zaha would add a lot more freshness to the team.
