The 2018/19 campaign has been a successful one for the Premier League teams. This is the first time in history that both the European finals have all its finalists from a single nation.
Manchester City became the first team in England to lift the domestic treble, and win all four domestic competitions in a single season.
The Sky Blues were even knocked out of the Champions League by an English side in Tottenham Hotspur.
Football fans got to witness one of the finest title races across all of Europe with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool going toe to toe with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for the entirety of the season.
With the 2018/19 campaign coming to an end and the transfer season approaching, let’s take a look at the three free agents who are interesting Premier League clubs.
Adrien Rabiot
Rabiot has had a fallout with Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel and has not played a single minute of regular football since PSG’s final Champions League group game against Red Star Belgrade.
The 24-year-old, who has enough experience under his belt, both domestically and in Europe will be a free agent from July 1.
The Frenchman has garnered a lot of interest from top clubs all across Europe, with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United being the English sides to have put the Frenchman on their radar.
Mario Balotelli
Balotelli had earlier spells with Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League. The 28-year-old made a move from Nice to Marseille in the winter transfer window, scoring 8 goals in 12 games for Les Olympiens.
The Italian’s contract will expire this summer but he could stay in Ligue 1 if the French side decide to offer him a contract extension.
Balotelli was linked with a move to Newcastle United in January, but nothing transpired. As of now, there isn’t any solid interest from a Premier League side, but considering his spell in France was pretty productive, expect a few offers on the former Inter Milan forward’s table.
The 28-year old still has more than a couple of years left under his belt and seeing the veteran Gianluigi Buffon shower his praise on Super Mario, no one can doubt the Italian’s ability.
Hector Herrera
Herrera plays in Portugal with the Primeira Liga side FC Porto. The 29-year-old has 11 goal contributions, netting the ball on nine separate occasions with two of his goals coming in the Champions League.
After six long years with Porto, the midfielder is most likely to move on in the summer. The Mexican International has been on the radar of many top clubs including Arsenal, who were linked with the midfielder in the winter transfer window.
