Key Change In Midfield: 4-4-2 Burnley Predicted Lineup vs Leicester City

Burnley will look to put an end to their losing streak when they host Leicester City at Turf Moor on Saturday.

The Clarets have lost their last three matches and a win could be imperative as they look to get out of the relegation scrap.

Burnley team news

Burnley coach Sean Dyche will miss out on the services of key midfielder Steven Defour who is out with a calf injury while Aaron Lennon’s knee injury could also rule him out against Leicester City this weekend.

In addition, Jonathan Walters was ruled out for six months with his Achilles injury back in September and the former Stoke City star will miss tomorrow’s game.

Predicted Burnley lineup vs Leicester City (4-4-2)

Defence

Dyche is unlikely to make too many alterations in defence, despite conceding four goals against Liverpool last weekend.

Ben Mee and James Tarkowski are the automatic starters at the heart of Burnley’s four-man backline. Both players are known for their defensive commitment, which will be important against Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City attack this weekend.

While Mee and Tarkowski will form the central defensive partnership, Phil Bardsley and Charlie Taylor will occupy the fullback positions. Bardsley, in particular, will likely have a busy afternoon defending against the extremely talented Ben Chilwell on the right-flank and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

Tom Heaton will once again start ahead of Joe Hart and Nick Pope in goal, looking for only the third clean sheet of the campaign.

Midfield

Ashley Westwood has been the club’s most creative outlet in midfield this season and the former Aston Villa midfielder will play a key role at the base of Burnley’s 4-4-2 this weekend.

Westwood will be partnered by Jack Cork in midfield, who will continue to deputize for the injured Defour while Jeff Hendrick could make way for Johann Berg Gudmundsson in the right-midfield position.

Dwight McNeil, on the other hand, should retain his place on the opposite flank as the youngster continues to impress Dyche.

Attack

Burnley could once again deploy the productive offensive duo of Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes in attack on Saturday.

Barnes has been the club’s top scorer with nine goals this season while Wood has also plundered seven but it will be interesting to see whether they can deliver under pressure against the Foxes.
