Manchester United are mulling over a £120 million move for Paulo Dybala in the summer; it has been claimed.
The report by The Sun also states that the Red Devils are willing to let go of Romelu Lukaku in exchange for the Juventus superstar, who has been long linked with a move to Old Trafford.
United are expected to undergo a squad overhaul and it is believed that Dybala could be a central figure as they aim to challenge for the title next season.
Paulo Dybala: A fantastic choice by United
Following a disappointing start to the campaign under Jose Mourinho, Manchester United have enjoyed an excellent run of form under Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Norwegian has managed to revamp the overall dynamic of the team and his attacking brand of football has tuned in well with the players United have at their disposal. However, the attack still remains an issue, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata struggling to make an impact for the first-team.
Furthermore, Lukaku has also had an underwhelming campaign, even though the Belgian has significantly improved under Solskjaer, notably scoring a brace in the sensational win over PSG in the Champions League.
Thus, the addition of someone like Dybala should be beneficial for the Red Devils if they are to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool next season.
The Argentine international has played a key role for Juventus this season, despite being involved in only eight goals in the league so far. His excellent combination and understanding with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Miralem Pjanic have helped the Old Lady steer towards what looks like yet another Serie A title.
However, it’s probably fair to point out that Dybala should not be considered as the primary goal-scorer as the Argentine thrives in a more withdrawn role, especially in the number ten position, where he can link up with teammates and create chances in the final third.
This raises question marks over the decision of possibly offloading Lukaku in the summer especially given the recent form he has shown. There is also the case for Romelu Lukaku to thrive in a United shirt next season as well if he can show his recent form is not a flash in the pan.
The inclusion of Dybala holds its own merit and fits the bill of the nature of signing United will make this summer which is expected to be a huge one for the Red Devils. Based on Alexis Sanchez’s torrid time at Old Trafford and Juan Mata’s diminishing impact, as mentioned before, Dybala will surely find more than enough scope to enter into the scheme of things for the Manchester giants, if a move indeed pans out.
