Why Leeds United should do everything to sign this versatile attacker

Leeds United are on course to make it to the Premier League, and if they do, they are likely to go after Liverpool attacker Harry Wilson.

Wilson is currently on loan at Derby County, and has had a stellar spell with the Rams under Frank Lampard so far this season.

After impressing with Hull City last season, Wilson has had a more consistent spell with Derby this time and has helped them push for promotion.

Ideally, Liverpool should look to loan the Welshman to a Premier League side, and if Leeds make it to the top flight, they will try to make a move for him, it has been reported by the Sun (Via TalkSPORT).

Harry Wilson – Why he’d be a smashing signing for Leeds

The race for promotion is heating up in the Championship and Leeds will target the automatic spots. However, they need to start making plans for the summer transfer window as well as their squad still needs more quality for the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa has done a commendable job at Leeds so far as they play as a unit and don’t have too many individual stars. But, to challenge the Premier League sides, they will have to add better players.

Wilson has shown good ability on the ball, and having played under a style in the Liverpool reserve team that focuses on pressing, he’d be a good fit under the Bielsa blueprint.

The 21-year old has shown good versatility this season as well, which would further enhance his chances of doing well under Bielsa.

Predominantly a right forward, Wilson has been used in a more central role and has excelled in that position, having managed four goals and two assists from there.

Leeds have relied on one particular player for creativity this season, but Pablo Hernandez seems to be their go-to player when they need to unlock a defence. The Spaniard averages at least three key passes a game.

Leeds need to take the burden off the 33-year old’s shoulders and Wilson, whose 1.5 key passes a game is more than all Leeds attackers except Hernandez, would be a good addition to the team.

Any potential deal is likely to be short-term though as Liverpool value the attacker highly, so a loan deal might work out well for all parties involved.
