Rangers will take on Hibernian away from home in the Scottish Premiership and will hope to reduce Celtic’s lead at the top of the table.
Following the disappointing draw against St. Johnstone a few weeks ago, Rangers have won their last two Premiership games, but an away clash against Hibs might be tricky.
Steven Gerrard’s side can’t afford to drop any more points in the Premiership, and with the much-await Old Firm derby coming up at the end of the month, the Gers need a consistent run of results to put a bit of pressure on Neil Lennon’s side.
The Light Blues also have a Scottish Cup replay on to play in, and it’s important to head into that game in a positive frame of mind as well.
The last three meetings between the two sides have resulted in draws, and the last time Rangers beat Hibs was way back in 2017, so the hosts will certainly be buoyed by the head to head record.
Rangers Team News
Gerrard has confirmed that Ryan Jack is in contention to play the Friday night game against Hibs, but it remains to be seen if the midfielder will start.
Gareth McAuley, on the other hand, picked up an injury against Livingston in an in-house game, and will not be available for the clash. There will be more news on the veteran defender after the scan results of the hamstring injury tomorrow.
Barring McAuley, Gerrard has a fully fit squad to choose from.
Predicted Rangers lineup vs Hibernian
Defence
Joe Worrall scored the all-important equaliser in the second half against Aberdeen in the cup game, and should feature alongside Connor Goldson at the heart of the defence
Andy Halliday might return to the team and play in the left-back role, while James Tavernier should keep his place at left-back.
Allan McGregor will keep his place in goal as usual.
Midfield
Gerrard might go with Ross McCrorie if he feels Jack isn’t fit enough to start.
Glen Kamara and Scott Arfield should start alongside McCrorie in a three-man midfield.
Attack
Daniel Candeias and Ryan Kent seem like most in-form wingers at the moment, and should start on the flanks. Premiership top-scorer Alfredo Morelos should keep his place up top.
