Arsenal are well and truly in the race to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League’s standings at the end of the season and in all honesty, Unai Emery has done a decent job so far after taking over from Arsene Wenger.
To challenge for major silverware next term, Emery is expected to make some signings to beef up his armoury. Apparently, the Gunners are keeping close tabs on Gabriel Martinelli as per a report by the Daily Mail.
Martinelli is one of the hottest prospects in the game at the moment and Arsenal are ready to shell out £4million to secure his services, although a host of clubs are also monitoring him closely.
Gabriel Martinelli: Profile
Martinelli started his career playing futsal for Corinthians in Brazil and went on to sign his first professional contract with Ituano in 2017, which runs until October 2022. He made his debut at the tender age of 16 years and 9 months.
In this process, he became the youngest player ever to make his debut for the club this century. During his younger days, he had trials for Manchester United and Barcelona and it does sound promising at the onset.
He has fared well for them this season and has drawn a lot of attention from the football fraternity. He is reportedly close to securing an Italian passport which would enable him to get a work permit and this would further boost Arsenal’s interest.
