Newly appointed Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers could make a move for Kieran Tierney in the summer, it has been claimed.
According to the Scottish Sun(via the Scotsman), the Celtic fullback could be targeted by the former Liverpool boss amid speculation linking current Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell to a move to Manchester City in the summer.
Tierney is regarded as one of the most promising full-backs in Britain and the Foxes could face stiff competition with Arsenal already plotting a £25million summer move for the Scot.
Kieran Tierney: An ideal replacement for Ben Chilwell
Chilwell has been one of the rising stars in the Premier League this season, having played a key role in the Leicester City backline. The 22-year-old has impressed the onlookers of the English top flight with his composed passing and excellent crossing, notably attracting the interest of English champions Manchester City.
It goes without saying the Foxes could be in deep trouble, should Chilwell decide to leave the King Power Stadium in the summer, with ageing Christian Fuchs being the only other option in the left-back department who incidentally will also be leaving at the end of the 2018-19 season.
Therefore, a move for Tierney could make a world of sense for Leicester City, who will look to start a new era under Rodgers next season.
The Scottish international enjoyed immense success under Rodgers, during their time together at Celtic and this will certainly help him settle should a move materialise, though the challenges he will be facing will be of an elevated nature.
Speaking of which, Tierney has proved himself not only in the Scottish Premiership but also in the UEFA Champions League, where his impressive performances attracted the interest of Bayern Munich and Manchester United last season.
Much like Chilwell, Tierney is an excellent athlete, who can cover ground very quickly, thanks to his raw pace that also becomes helpful in counter-attacking situations.
But, what makes him such an appealing target for the Foxes is his all-round game as the 21-year-old is also known to be a dogged defender, which could potentially make him a better fit at Leicester when compared to Chilwell.
Indeed, Tierney is an excellent tackler, which, combined with his commitment and fighting spirit, makes him a well-rounded defender, who could certainly add more quality into the Leicester City backline next season.
The player, himself, will be hugely benefitted by a move to Leicester considering his previous experience under Rodgers as well as the fact that he could receive regular game-time in the Premier League, making this a tailor-made fit for all parties.
Sir ,
You obviously haven’t got a clue re. the standing of Rodgers vis a vis Celtic Football club after his sleekit flit to leicester ; nor do you understand the loyalty and devotion that young Tierney feels for the club he has supported all his life .
Not everyone is driven by money , like Rodgers , and not everyone thinks the EPL is the be all and end all of football ambition .

It won’t happen. Tierney won’t go to Leicester; if he does leave Celtic it will be for United, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool or Europe. He also wants to stay to do 10 in a row before departing and he’ll still be under 25 when he does so; if he can keep fit (which he usually does) then he would benefit from a move then and get another 2 seasons of European football via Ch League and Europa League before he leaves. It will also be for more than £25M he does go for; as one of the best left backs in Britain it will be at least more than Chilwell would be priced at. Interesting piece but there’s been speculation every 6 months as to his leaving Celtic and for 3 years he’s decided to stay
