Shaqiri and Keita to Start: Predicted 4-2-3-1 Liverpool Lineup vs Watford

Liverpool will hope to return to winning ways when they take on Watford in their next Premier League fixture.

The Reds were held 0-0 by Manchester United in their last league outing, and although a point was enough to return to the top of the table, the margin is extremely thin now.

Just a point separates Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the table, and the Reds know they need to win every game as Manchester City are in imperious form at the moment, having recently won the EFL Cup.

Liverpool relied on a flurry of second-half goals in the away game against Watford, and the fans will hope the score line will be something similar at Anfield.

Liverpool Team News

Roberto Firmino was subbed off in the first half against Manchester United, but the ankle injury he suffered isn’t as serious as presumed.

Though Firmino left Old Trafford in crutches, he is might be back for the clash against Watford. The Brazilian will be assessed ahead of the game, and if not deemed fit enough, we might see Xherdan Shaqiri get the nod to start.

Naby Keita had an illness on Monday, but is expected to return to the fold. Trent Alexander-Arnold is also set for a return, and he’ll have fond memories of playing against Watford as he scored a brilliant free-kick in the last meeting between the two.

Predicted Liverpool Lineup

Defence

Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip are expected to feature at the heart of the defence once again. Andy Robertson had a quiet game against Manchester United, and he’ll hope to make more of an impact against Watford.

Alexander-Arnold should feature on the right, and his return will see more pace on the right wing. The Reds missed his crossing ability against Manchester United as James Milner didn’t have the best of games.

Alisson should keep his place in the Liverpool lineup. The Brazilian produced a fine save against Manchester United that kept the scores level.

Midfield

Gini Wijnaldum and Fabinho should keep their place in midfield, and if Keita is fit to play, he might start in Jordan Henderson’s place.

The Liverpool midfield was shut out by Manchester United’s cautious approach, but considering Watford will try to be more expansive, Keita and Wijnaldum might have more joy.

Attack

Mohamed Salah is expected to lead the line in Firmino’s absence, and he’ll be supported by the duo of Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri on the wider areas.
