Rondon and Longstaff Get 7 | Newcastle United Player Ratings vs Tottenham Hotspur

It was a hard-fought affair at the Wembley stadium as Tottenham Hotspur took on Newcastle United in their Premier League clash.

The Magpies looked resilient in the face of tremendous pressure from the Spurs attack but their defence was finally breached by Heung-min Son in the 83rd minute of the match.

The scoreline remained the same until the final whistle thus resulting in another last-gasp win for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Here is how the Newcastle United players were rated in their disappointing loss against Tottenham Hotspur.

Martin Dubravka: 6

Showed a lot of resilience for the most part and kept his goal safe. However, his mistake late in the match cost the Magpies all three points and he will be disappointed with that for sure.

DeAndre Yedlin: 6

Kept getting the ball up the field to initiate attacks. Lacked composure while backtracking though and picked up a yellow card as well.

Fabian Schar: 7

Did a great job to clear Christian Eriksen’s effort off the line to keep his side in the match. Looked composed in the backline throughout the game.

Jamaal Lascelles: 6

Got the ball away from the Spurs attackers with his clearances. Hesitated to go into tackles and allowed Son to take free aim at goal.

Florian Lejeune: 6

Looked solid in the first half. However, could have done better to prevent Son from getting the winner.

Matt Ritchie: 6

Looked to get the ball into Spurs’ territory as much as possible. Stopped the free-flowing runs of Kieran Trippier with his decent defensive skills as well.

Sean Longstaff: 7

A cool and composed performance from the youngster in midfield. Took a few knocks as well.

Issac Hayden: 6

Looked ordinary while going into tackles in the first half but did a decent job overall.

Christian Atsu: 6

Deceived the opposition defenders with his classy footwork but lacked the accuracy in his passes. Was withdrawn in the second half.

Ayoze Perez: 6

Showed glimpses of brilliance but the end product was missing from his game. Extracted a brilliant save out of Hugo Lloris with a sweet strike from distance in the second half.

Salomon Rondon: 7

His physical presence was good enough to torment Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld on occasions. Was unlucky to be denied by the post as he missed a chance to get Newcastle in the lead.
