Arsenal are interested in the services of Birmingham starlet Che Adams; it has been claimed.
According to Birmingham Mail, the 22-year-old forward has attracted the attention of a series of top clubs around England with his remarkable performances in the Championship this season.
Arsenal are believed to be among the clubs interested in the services of Adams, who could cost around £18 million as he prepares for a potential switch to the Premier League in the summer.
Che Adams: The right choice by Emery?
It has been a topsy-turvy season for Arsenal until this point with Unai Emery finding his foray into English football difficult to navigate. After an initial positive spell, the errors began to creep through, and most of them culminated in the 0-1 defeat in the first leg of the UEFA Europe League against BATE Borisov last week.
The attacking department, in particular, could be in for an overhaul with the pending departure of Aaron Ramsey while the Gunners are also keen on offloading Mesut Ozil in the summer.
And even though the two main strikers in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have done relatively well, combining 25 goals between them so far this campaign, the addition of Adams would certainly add more bite into the Arsenal attack.
The Birmingham star is a versatile forward who can feature anywhere across the attacking areas, though he has predominantly played the role of a central striker this season. This will allow Unai Emery to deploy him in a 4-3-3 formation, where both Adams and Aubameyang can operate in a wide role with Lacazette leading the attack.
Alternatively, Adams can also be utilized as a winger in a 4-4-2 formation, which will allow the 22-year-old to use his pace and energy on the flanks to create more opportunities for his team and also as a part of the front two with Aubameyang more than capable of shifting onto the left flank.
In fact, Adams has averaged 1.3 key passes per game this season, which is quite impressive for a player largely known for his goalscoring ability.
Speaking of which, Adams certainly thrives in front of goal, having netted as many as 19 goals in just 32 matches this season. Thus, his addition to the team will make sure Arsenal do not spurn any more golden opportunities next season.
But most importantly, the 22-year-old could prove to be a genuine long-term investment for the Gunners and though he lacks experience in top-flight football, the presence of proven goalscorers like Aubameyang and Lacazette should give him enough time to get to grips with the fast-paced nature of the Premier League.
However, Arsenal certainly need to be swift in their approach to sign this highly talented attacker, who is also linked with arch-rivals Manchester United as well as several other Premier League outfits.
