West Ham United want Premier League hitman to replace Arnautovic: A good choice?

West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic has been a subject of interest from an undisclosed Chinese club and though the Hammers have rejected the offer, it looks likely that the Austrian could leave, according to the Mail.

The report claims that Arnautovic would earn around £250,000-a-week in wages if he moves to China.

West Ham United have put Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson on their radar as a replacement for Arnautovic should the latter leave in the window.

Callum Wilson: Profile

Wilson has fought his way to the top, having started his senior career at Coventry City and while he was on their books, he had loan spells with Kettering Town and Tamworth.

In the summer of 2014, the Cherries made Wilson sign on the dotted line and he clicked straight away under Eddie Howe. Wilson adjusted has managed to grow in the Premier League as well and is a well-established player now.

Injuries tried to affect Wilson at times as he had to deal with a cruciate ligament injury in both his knees. But, the 26-year old has often come back strong from his injury layoffs.

Good replacement for Arnautovic

Wilson can be a good replacement for Arnautovic at West Ham United owing to the qualities he possesses. He is a strong and reliable centre-forward who is commanding in the air and has the ability to hold the ball in the final third.

The 26-year-old might not be a technically-gifted player, but he compensates that with his movement on and off the ball, clever passing abilities and the way he drives at opposition defences.

In 20 Premier League games this season, Wilson has plundered 9 goals and has also bagged 5 assists. Arnautovic does offer more spark up front because of his ability to take on players, but with Samir Nasri now at the club, West Ham have more creativity in attack.

Wilson is a clinical goalscorer and considering his age, he would be a long-term replacement for Arnautovic. Howe’s side are in no hurry to sell their striker, though, so the Hammers might have to break the bank for his signature.
