Liverpool will take on Leicester City later tonight and will hope to open up a seven-point lead at the top of the table.
Manchester City, Liverpool’s closest rivals, were beaten 2-1 by Newcastle United on Tuesday, and that leaves the Reds in a good position to capitalise.
Jurgen Klopp’s side haven’t had a smooth ride in January, but a win against Leicester will more than make up for the bad start to the month.
The manager has done well with the resources he has got, especially at the back, as Liverpool have suffered from some of their first team players not being available.
Liverpool Team News
Klopp will be without a recognised right-back as Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold are out while James Milner is suspended. In the trio’s absence, we might get to see Fabinho filling in the right-back role as the Brazilian has already played in that role for Monaco.
Virgil van Dijk trained with the Liverpool squad on Monday and is likely to feature at the heart of the defence once again.
Predicted Liverpool Lineup
Defence
Van Dijk has played every minute in the Premier League so far and his presence will be massive, considering that Jamie Vardy likes scoring against Liverpool. Dejan Lovren is back after his hamstring injury, but we expect Joel Matip to start alongside Van Dijk.
Fabinho might start in the right-back position, while Andy Robertson should retain his place on the left. Alisson Becker keeps his place in goal.
Midfield
With Fabinho dropping to the right-back role, Gini Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson might start in the double pivot in front of the defence.
Roberto Firmino has done a commendable job in the number 10 role, and should keep his place there in the Liverpool lineup.
Attack
After a good rest, we expect Klopp to stick with the duo of Xherdan Shaqiri, and Sadio Mane playing on the wings.
After a slow start to the season, Salah has mustered 16 goals so far and is top of the Premier League goal-scoring charts at the moment. The Egyptian will hope to add more to his tally later tonight.
