Sane and Laporte Dazzle: Manchester City Player Ratings vs Huddersfield Town

Manchester City came away from Kirklees Stadium with all three points earlier today as they secured a comfortable 3-0 win against Huddersfield Town.

Although City looked lethargic and were far from their fluidic best, goals from Danilo, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane were enough to seal the game.

Here are our Manchester City player ratings from what transpired earlier today.

Ederson 6.5/10

The custodian was barely troubled by the Terries.

Kyle Walker 6/10

Walker was all over the place in the first half with absolute lack of belief in himself, although he looked more settled after the interval.

Nicolas Otamendi 7/10

The centre-back was solid and dealt well with the limited offensive endeavours carved by the home side.

Aymeric Laporte 8/10

He was commendable in the air and made some good tackles. He played the ball out from the back well.

Danilo 7/10

The left-back started poorly but found his feet as the game progressed. He tried his luck from the distance in the first half and luckily, the ball deflected off Christopher Schindler to give an early lead to the visitors.

Kevin De Bruyne 6.5/10

De Bruyne was nowhere near his best as he struggled to make his presence felt in the game.

Fernandinho 6/10

Like most of Pep Guardiola’s players, the midfielder appeared rusty. Made a few sloppy passes.

Ilkay Gundogan 5/10

Gundogan hardly made an impact despite getting the chance to showcase his calibre. He lacked dynamism and his passes were safe more often than not.

Raheem Sterling 7/10

The Englishman was outmuscled by Terence Kongolo and Chris Lowe in the first half. However, his perseverance in the after the break was exemplary as he kept questioning Huddersfield’s defence and deserved the goal he scored.

Sergio Aguero 7/10

He couldn’t get a goal to his name but he was lively inside the box and on the edge of the penalty area.

Leroy Sane 8/10

Sane created Sterling’s goal and took the game away completely from Mark Hudson’s men by scoring Manchester City’s third goal of the game. He was difficult to mark owing to his pace and movement in the final third.

Substitutions

David Silva 7/10

After replacing Fernandinho with around 30 minutes left to play, the Spaniard injected positivity and knitted the side together with his well-constructed passes.

Bernardo Silva 7/10

He replaced Sane on the 73rd minute and brought energy to the game.

Fabian Delph 6/10

The former Aston Villa man didn’t do anything spectacular but certainly did his basics right after coming on for Gundogan late in the second half.
