Reds dig deep at Anfield: Liverpool player ratings vs Crystal Palace

Liverpool emerged as winners against Crystal Palace at Anfield in a frantic game that witnessed seven goals.

A brace from Mohamed Salah and goals from Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane helped the Reds to a 4-3 win against Palace and open up a seven-point lead at the top of the table over Manchester City.

Here are the Liverpool player ratings vs Crystal Palace.

Alisson (5/10): Might have done a little bit better in preventing Crystal Palace from scoring the injury time goal. Can’t be blamed really for the rest of the goals.

James Milner (6/10): Had a nightmare defending against Wilfred Zaha on the right as the Palace attacker constantly troubled the former Man City star. Milner provided good support in attack, however, notably registering an assist for the third goal. A last-minute sending off was a dent in his performance, though.

Joel Matip (7/10): Jurgen Klopp will be delighted to have Matip back in action as the former Schalke defender played a crucial role in dealing with Palace’s attacking threat. Did well in what his first game in a while.

Virgil van Dijk (7/10): Considering his lofty standards, it was a mediocre performance from Van Dijk, who wasn’t involved in the game much and certainly looked out of pace when Palace pushed forward in the second half.

Andrew Robertson (8.5/10): A tireless display on the flanks, as the Scot covered good distance and also provided excellent attacking support.

Jordan Henderson (8.5/10): The England international showed excellent distribution and recycled the ball very well. He also put his team on the front with some sharp forward passes.

Fabinho (8/10): His attacking game was strong as the Brazilian often provided a pinch of creativity in the final third. Could have had a perfect game if he had been more solid in terms of his defensive duties.

Sadio Mane (7.5/10): Following a slow start to the game, Mane came roaring back after the interval and made excellent use of his chance to score the fourth goal. However, his decision making was questionable, at times.

Roberto Firmino (8/10): As usual, Firmino’s nimble footwork and clever positioning helped Liverpool maintain their attacking tempo.

Naby Keita (6/10): Looked quite bad starting from the left as the Guinean often looked out of pace and ineffective while moving forward.

Mohamed Salah (9/10): One of the best performers this evening as the Egyptian looked menacing whenever he had the ball. His equaliser just after the restart was just as important as the goal in the 75th minute.

Substitutes

Xherdan Shaqiri (NA): Replaced the ineffective Keita in the 72nd minute but should have been introduced far earlier.

Adam Lallana (NA): Replaced Fabinho with just three minutes left on the clock.

Rafael Camacho (NA): A last-minute substitute for Salah.
