It hasn’t exactly been a fruitful season for Real Madrid superstar Isco Alarcon so far. Following a disastrous start to the campaign, the Spanish international has now reportedly fallen out with coach Santiago Solari, which has put Manchester City and Chelsea on red alert.
City, in particular, are keen to secure a long-term replacement for the ageing David Silva. But is Isco the right choice for the Sky Blues.
Isco is a playmaker who is blessed with excellent ball control and vision. He excels in providing key passes in the final third but is equally effective when it comes to drifting past the opposition with his incredible dribbling ability.
However, it’s his talent to carry the ball even under tight pressure is what makes him one of the highly rated playmakers in world football. Indeed, Isco can operate both as a number ten as well as an eight, thanks to his impressive ball carrying quality.
The Real Madrid superstar is blessed immense technical qualities, which enables him to link-up with his teammates anywhere on the pitch, especially in the final third, where his combination with the supporting attackers has yielded a lot of goals during his time at Real Madrid.
In addition, he is also a threat from long range and set pieces – making him a complete package in the number ten role.
Indeed! Isco can emerge as an ideal replacement for David Silva given his incredible skill set, which could even help him surpass the influence of the current Manchester City star.
As mentioned earlier, Isco can carry the ball around anywhere on the pitch, meaning he can be deployed in Silva’s position, where he will often look to distribute the ball across the final third.
Most importantly, however, Isco’s combination with Kevin de Bruyne may make Manchester City a force in Europe as both the players possess tremendous creativity and pack the quality to take on any defence in the world.
And at the age of 26, Isco still has time on his side. Thus, investing in the Spanish international could turn out to be an excellent move by Manchester City as they look to lay their dominance in the European stage.
However, it remains to be seen whether or not will Real Madrid be willing to let go of their prized attacker, who has a release clause of £620 million.
