Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has hinted that the Blues will not sell centre-back Andreas Christensen in the winter transfer window.
Barcelona had been linked with a new defender in recent weeks and have signed Jeison Murillo on loan, but the Blaugrana had been linked with a move for Christensen before that.
The talented Danish defender has also been linked with a move to his former club Borussia Monchengladbach who are doing well in the German Bundesliga and have been regarded as title-contenders.
Sarri has explained that Christensen, who is currently out with an injury, is an important player for the club and that the centre-back’s future lies at Stamford Bridge.
“I think Barcelona announced a new centre-back,” Sarri told a press conference ahead of the Blues’ next league fixture.
“Christensen for sure is out of the matter at the moment.
“He is an important player, he is young and will be more important in the future.
Chelsea take on Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday and will hope to close the gap on the teams above in them in the league table.
