4-2-3-1 With Shaqiri in Attack: Predicted Liverpool Lineup vs Wolves

Liverpool have the chance to open up a four-point gap over title rivals Manchester City on Friday when they take on Wolves at the Molineux.

The Reds picked up a morale-boosting 3-1 win against Manchester United on Sunday, which also happened to be their sixth win in a row in the Premier League, and confidence will be high in the Liverpool camp right now.

It wasn’t an easy game for the Reds but what was the most pleasing was that the duo of Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne impressed despite seeing minimal playing time this season.

Wolves will be no pushovers either as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are seventh in the league table and held Manchester City at home in the Premier League earlier this season.

Liverpool Team News

Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss out once again due to injury which means we could see James Milner feature in the right-back role after shrugging off his injury.

Clyne impressed in the last game but it’s unlikely we’ll see him play so soon once again considering the game against Manchester United was his first start of the league.

Predicted Liverpool Lineup

Defence

Dejan Lovren and Virgil van Dijk are Klopp’s best options at the back and it’s likely the duo will start as the two centre-halves.

Andy Robertson had an influential game against Manchester United and will keep his place at left-back while Milner is likely to be used in a makeshift right-back role.

Alisson will want to make up for his mistake against Manchester United with a more assured display in goal against Wolves. The Brazilian has been consistent this season and the mistake against Man United was a minor hiccup.

Midfield

Liverpool’s midfield performed well against United, but they will come up against an arguably better set-up against Wolves who have Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves in the middle.

Fabinho should keep his place in the midfield and it would suit the Reds better of the Brazilian is instead rested against Newcastle next mid-week. That means Jordan Henderson could remain on the bench.

Gini Wijnaldum has been a key cog in the Liverpool midfield and he should start against Wolves.

Attack

Xherdan Shaqiri deserves a start after his impact off the bench against Man United and he could feature on the right. Naby Keita could drop back to the bench, meaning Sadio Mane will play on the left.

Roberto Firmino should be handed a number 10 as that would keep Neves and Mourinho occupied, thereby allowing Mo Salah more freedom up top.

Salah

Mane – Firmino – Shaqiri

Fabinho – Wijnaldum

Robertson – Van Dijk – Lovren – Milner
