According to The Sun (via Talksport), Everton are plotting a swap deal with Crystal Palace that could see Aaron Wan-Bissaka moving to Goodison Park while Ademola Lookman will go the other way.
Lookman has failed to impress head coach Marco Silva despite a promising stint with RB Leipzig in the second half of last season and Everton are more than happy to offload the 21-year-old attacker who is also being courted by Leipzig.
Indeed, Lookman is yet to make a start in the league this season with all five of his appearances coming as a substitute as competition for places in the Everton squad is high.
The English attacker has also averaged under one shot per 90 minutes while his dribbling accuracy stands at 34% – a significant downgrade from his last season’s tally of 43%.
In addition, Cenk Tosun has provided good service upfront thanks to his impressive work-rate while Dominic Calvert-Lewis is also getting more minutes, further decreasing Lookman’s chances of regular first-team action.
Thus, a move away from Goodison Park seems like a logical choice for the 21-year-old.
As for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, he could prove to be an exciting signing for the Toffees for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the 20-year-old is a lively right-back, who can provide all-round service at the back.
Bissaka has been a key cog in the Palace backline this season, leading the team in terms of interceptions (27) and tackles (46) while also mustering 34 clearances.
Thus, he would certainly prove to be a more solid alternative to both Jonjoe Kenny and Seamus Coleman as the right-back.
Wan-Bissaka’s offensive output is also pretty immense, having made six key passes while his tally of 34 attempted dribbles is only bettered by star forward Wilfred Zaha.
A swap-deal could help Crystal Palace from an attacking sense as they have relied too heavily on Zaha. With Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham struggling with injuries, Palace need more attacking outlets.
The addition of Lookman could help Zaha share his attacking burden with a young attacker who is fully capable of creating a stir in the opposing defences with his pace and tenacity in the final third if given regular minutes on the pitch.
