Predicted 4-3-3 Liverpool Lineup vs Manchester City: Salah Keeps His Place

Liverpool’s biggest game of the season awaits them tomorrow at Anfield when they host Manchester City. The Reds are level on points with the current holders, but goal difference sees the Sky Blues top the table. Liverpool can make a statement tomorrow if they can beat Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Reds are winless in their last three games in all competitions, and there is a little bit of worry regarding the form of their attackers who have so often looked unstoppable.

City don’t seem like they are going to drop too many points this season, so the two fixtures between the two sides could decide who takes home the title next year.

Naby Keita is fit enough to take part in the game but he might not start the game. Adam Lallana and Divock Origi are a couple of other players who won’t be taking part in the game.

Predicted Liverpool Lineup

Defence

Defensive stability is something Liverpool have managed this season when you compare this team to last season’s outfit. The duo of Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk have complemented each other well and should start at the heart of the defence. Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold will have to be on their toes as City do focus on stretching play.

Alisson has had a good start and barring that mishap against Leicester City, he has put in consistent performances.

Midfield

Manchester City arguably have the best midfield in the Premier League, and the only possible way of beating them is stifling them for time and space, something Liverpool showed in the League and the Champions League outings last season.

All three of Liverpool’s midfielders – Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner — are best suited to the pressing game rather than falling deep as they did against Napoli. The only issue is unlike last season, Liverpool won’t have a player like Oxlade-Chamberlain who can test the City defence with his driving runs from midfield.

Attack

Mo Salah’s goal-drought goes on, but big games often call for big players to step up and the Egyptian is expected to keep his place ahead of Shaqiri. Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will as usual complete the attack.

Napoli’s pressing didn’t allow the front three any time on the ball and they should expect much of the same against City, so they’ll have to get rid of the ball much quicker and play more of those little passing triangles they manage to pull off so well.

Mane – Firmino – Salah

Milner – Wijnaldum – Henderson
