Liverpool Linked With A Move For £100m Attacker: Is He Worth The Hype?

Jadon Sancho seems like a hot property right now as the English teenager has had a stunning start at Borussia Dortmund and is leading the assists charts despite starting just once in the Bundesliga. The latest side to join his long list of admirers are Liverpool if reports by the Mirror are to be believed.

Sancho’s incredible rise isn’t a surprise as the Bundesliga outfit have nurtured quite a few precocious talents in recent years and helped them develop into world beaters. But, their £100m valuation is likely to stop a few clubs from making a pursuit.

Jadon Sancho – Why all the hype?

Well, when Christian Pulisic burst on to the scene, many believed he was perhaps the benchmark to follow for teenagers at Dortmund. Before him, it was Mario Goetze, of course, who even managed to replicate his club form for Germany and scored the goal that won Germany the World Cup in 2014.

Watching Sancho play for the first time gives an idea of the brilliant talent he is. While a lot of the fans want youngsters to take on players and show a bit of pizzazz, Sancho seems like a young kid with a footballing brain that belies his age.

He tends to release the ball at the perfect time, something a lot of the young players are accused of not doing after doing all the hard work of beating place with pace or skill. That explains why he has so many assists already.

Dortmund’s system is designed to hurt teams by stretching play. They are equally devastating on the break and while dictating the tempo with possession football. Someone like Sancho has provided them with the spark in the final third.

What will Sancho add to Liverpool?

Depth, right now. There’s no denying that anyone will find it hard to displace Mane and Salah from the wide areas. Sancho has shown that he can be deployed on either wing as he has contributed assists from both flanks this season.

Sancho is developing pretty well right now, and the Bundesliga is perhaps the best league for him to keep his impressive development rate. At this point, a £100m valuation seems like a lot for someone who has the potential.

The problem is, if Liverpool or any other Premier League side sign him, there’s no guarantee he’ll impress straight away in England like he is doing in the Bundesliga.
