As per one of the latest reports by Express, Manchester United looked to table a sensational bid of €250m to prise away Gareth Bale from the ranks of Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho was desperate to land Bale to the Old Trafford and his camp were reportedly readying a ground-shattering move for him.
Bale was serially linked with a transfer away from the Spanish capital last season after he failed to nail down a regular place for himself in the starting line-up under the tutelage of Zinedine Zidane. However, the Wales international was unstoppable in his endeavours in the Champions League final against Liverpool.
After coming on from the bench, the 29-year-old found the back of the net twice and helped his side in clinching a 3-1 win over Jurgen Klopp’s men. Bale desperately wanted more time on the pitch and therefore, the Red Devils were all set to offer him a contract that would have fetched him £22.3m net per season.
However, Bale snubbed the interest from Manchester United following the shocking departures of Zidane and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo from Santiago Bernabeu. As a result, Mourinho and his co. failed in their mission and currently, the former Tottenham Hotspur man is inking a commendable form for himself with Los Blancos.
