Predicted 4-3-3 Tottenham Hotspur Lineup vs Watford: Defender To Return

Tottenham Hotspur are off to the best start possible this season as they have won each of their first three games. While wins over Newcastle United and Fulham are not too exciting, Tottenham managed to put three past David de Gea on their trip to Old Trafford last weekend and that win against Manchester United will give them plenty of confidence going into the rest of the season.

Spurs will, however, face a side in Watford who have themselves won three out of three. Javi Gracia’s Watford have beaten Burnley, Brighton and Crystal Palace in the first three games, conceding just two goals in the process and also beat Reading in the second round of the League Cup earlier this week.

Tottenham Team News

Vincent Janssen, Erik Lamela, Juan Foyth and Victor Wanyama are all recovering from injuries and are not expected to play any role in this game. Heung Min-Son is unavailable having won a Gold Medal in the Asian Cup games earlier.

Predicted Tottenham lineup (4-3-3)

Defence

With close to three saves a game, Hugo Lloris has been influential in Spurs winning every game this season so far and will hope to have a similar time this weekend as well. Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen form one of the strongest CB partnerships in the league and they will be up against a strike force of Andre Gray and Troy Deeney.

Kieran Trippier has a goal and an assist to his name this season and deserves to keep his place at right-back while Ben Davies, who has 1.7 key passes and a passing accuracy of 82%, could return after sitting out the tie against Man United last Monday.

Midfield

With two tackles, 1.7 interceptions and two clearances per game, Eric Dier has been impressive in a defensive midfield role. He should start alongside Mousa Dembele, who will add the drive from the middle of the park. The Belgian already has three dribbles in 140 minutes of action this season.

Dele Alli has been used in a slightly deeper role early this season and the playmaker has added a different dimension to the Spurs attack. He will play as a part of a three-man midfield but is expected to play most of the game attacking Watford’s backline.

Attack

Christian Eriksen was brilliant in the game against United and picked up an assist. He could be the danger man for the hosts this weekend as he will play in a free-floating role, adding numbers to the attack and the midfield when needed.

Harry Kane, who picked up a goal and an assist at Old Trafford, will have to get the better of Cathcart and Kabasele, both of who have been solid this season. Lucas Moura, who bagged a brace in against Unted, deserves to retain his place alongside Kane in an advanced role.
