Leeds United suffered their first defeat of the Championship campaign after their shocking 1-2 loss to Birmingham City earlier today.
A brace in the first-half from Che Adams gave a good cushion to the visitors and Ezgjan Alioski’s goal late in the second period proved to be just a consolation in the end for the Whites.
Leeds United player ratings
Bailey Peacock-Farrell 5/10
The custodian is to be blamed for conceding the first goal as he got it completely wrong. He was nowhere near the ball.
Barry Douglas 5/10
Douglas didn’t see enough of the ball and when he had it, he failed to muster notable crosses.
Liam Cooper 6/10
The centre-back looked commendable at the back and on many occasions, he tried to drive the ball out from the back.
Pontus Jansson 6/10
Like Cooper, Jansson was also solid at the back. His strong physical presence troubled Lukas Jutkiewicz and he deserves the credit for that.
Luke Ayling 4/10
Ayling was wasteful while going forward and lacked authority defensively.
Kalvin Phillips 4/10
He was taken off in the 34th minute as he gave a lot of space and didn’t really close down the Birmingham players.
Ezgjan Alioski 5/10
Apart from finding the back of the net, Alioski had a forgettable outing. He was poor with his passing, was too soft while making tackles and overall, had a disappointing outing.
Samu Saiz 5/10
Although he worked relentlessly, his first touches left more to be desired. He also lacked the usual silkiness on the ball during his attacking endeavours.
Mateusz Klich 5/10
Another player who struggled to make his presence felt, Klich was hesitant in releasing the ball or making that piercing run more often than not.
Jack Harrison 7/10
Harrison did put on a good show and was one of the silver linings for Marcelo Bielsa’s side. He showed great intent and was direct with his approach.
Tyler Roberts 6/10
The hold-up play of Roberts was exemplary. He tried his best to link-up with his teammates and worked really hard on the pitch.
Substitutions
Stuart Dallas 6/10
After replacing Phillips in the first-half, Dallas added more threat. However, he tried to do too much and gave away possession a few times.
Adam Forshaw 6/10
Forshaw injected the much-needed calmness in passing for after coming on the pitch in the 64th minute for Klich.
Ryan Edmondson 5/10
He replaced Douglas with around 20 minutes left on the clock but he didn’t make the necessary impact.
