During the international break, Chile are going to face Japan and South Korea on the 6th and 10th September respectively. However, they are set to be without their star attacker Alexis Sanchez in the upcoming international friendly fixtures.
Chile coach Reinaldo Rueda decided to drop Sanchez at the specific request of Manchester United. The former Arsenal man is needed at his best shape by the Red Devils to mount a serious challenge for league silverware and therefore, Rueda has taken this sensible decision.
On leaving Sanchez, he said: “It’s a recommendation from Manchester United’s medical staff. He is recovering but all that this trip means the suggestion was that he should not participate in these friendlies.”
Manchester United have had a stuttering start to the new Premier League season as they have won just one of their three league games so far, with their latest outing ending in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.
Sanchez started in his side’s 2-1 win in their opening fixture against Leicester City but missed the loss against Brighton & Hove Albion. Against Spurs, he came off the bench when United were already 2-0 down and he couldn’t save his side from suffering their second defeat of the season.
