Aston Villa’s inability to secure their promotion to the Premier League last term saw them fall into the clutches of financial woes. As a result, one of the players they had to let go was John Terry.
Terry carved an excellent season with the Villans after he ended his contractual relationship with Chelsea last summer. He is a free agent now and for quite some time, he has been getting linked to Manchester United, Aston Villa and Sporting Lisbon.
Jose Mourinho was desperate to bag a centre-back to his ranks during the summer transfer window. However, the Portuguese was not backed by the board. Therefore, rumours about Terry’s move to the Old Trafford raised a lot of eyebrows.
The former English international had won the Premier League, Champions League FA Cup and Europa League and a host of other silverwares during his time with the Blues. He does have truckloads of experience under his belt and is a proven veteran.
Intriguingly, the Red Devils are perceived to have decided to not sign the centre-back, as per one of the latest reports by Daily Post. They are reluctant to make the 37-year-old ink his name on the books of Mourinho.
