Lyon’s playmaker Nabil Fekir was one of the players who was heavily linked with Liverpool during the summer transfer window. Fekir scored 18 goals and also mustered 18 assists 30 Ligue 1 appearances last term and no wonder why the Reds were pursuing him.
Reportedly, Liverpool were willing to roll out £53m to lure him to the Anfield and the Premier League giants had even filmed a promo video for his unveiling at the club. However, the French World Cup winner’s move to Liverpool couldn’t materialize owing to medical issues and other disagreements.
With Fekir’s current deal with Lyon set to expire in 2020, Jurgen Klopp’s side might consider signing him in January as a new deal hasn’t been penned. Interestingly, the 25-year-old hasn’t shut down his door and it would be interesting to see whether Klopp actually makes a move to get hold of him.
He said: “What happened with Liverpool is straight out of my head, I’ve turned the page. We must not stop at this, we must move forward. There are things that must be accepted. My future? We have not discussed an extension yet, we will see what happens.”
