Liverpool maintained their superb start to their new season in the Premier League against Leicester City as they secured a 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium earlier today. Goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino gave the visitors a comfortable lead of a couple of goals.
However, Claude Puel’s troops came back strongly in the second-half and caused a lot of troubles to the back line of the Reds. Eventually, the pressure which was piled on Liverpool earned a goal for the Foxes after a disastrous back pass by Virgil Van Dijk.
The pass forced custodian Alisson Becker wide of the goal and while he tried to turn with the ball, he was dispossessed in the process by Kelechi Iheanacho who passed the ball to Rachid Ghezzal to score. It was unarguably a terrible way to concede a goal in such a highly contesting fixture.
After the game, Alisson partially blamed Van Dijk for giving Leicester City a lifeline and also criticized his own self as well. He said: “It was a reading the play mistake by me. I didn’t receive that good of a pass, we spoke about that in the dressing room, I spoke to Virgil, it wasn’t that good of a pass.”
