Unlike their arch-rivals Rangers, Celtic arguably failed to make a notable impression during the summer transfer window and there is no denying that. Former Celtic striker John Hartson also feels the same and he has suggested that the Celts should splash the cash in January to beef up their ranks.
Moussa Dembele switched to the ranks of Ligue 1 outfit Lyon for £19.75m on the deadline day and Brendan Rodgers wasn’t get hold of an astute replacement for the French striker. As a result, the Bhoys are currently short in terms of quality and quality up front and Hartson wants the Scottish giants should reinvest the money they received after Dembele’s exit.
He told to talkSPORT: “He’ll (Rodgers) be quietly seething at the fact he’s not been able to add some quality in the window. So come January, Celtic are going to go again. Brendan will be saying to his board, ‘I want some of this £19.75million and I want to invest it in the team’. So they’re only going to get stronger.”
During the summer transfer window, the former Liverpool boss secured the permanent move to the Celtic Park of Odsonne Edouard and Scott Bain. While Emilio Izaguirre re-signed for the Hoops, Daniel Arzani, Filip Benkovic and Youssouf Mulumbu are far from being any sort of appealing signings and they should definitely try to bring reinforcements in January.
