As per one of the latest reports by Evening Standard, Chelsea right-back Davide Zappacosta has kept the door open for an exit from the Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window. Zappacosta has stated that Italian giants Inter Milan are pursuing him to acquire his services.
He said: “Could I return to Italy? Yes, Inter Milan had been after me. My agent Alessandro Lucci had told me about their interest, although I’ve always remained focused on Chelsea. Could I return in January? I have three more years on my contract here and I only want to think about doing well with Chelsea.”
Zappacosta was signed form Torino last summer for £23m but he has found very little opportunities to showcase his calibre with the Blues owing to stiff competition. The Italian international made merely 12 starts in the top flight last term and has really struggled to make his presence felt.
Cesar Azpilicueta has established himself as a first-choice right-back under the tutelage of Maurizio Sarri. Zappacosta hasn’t been used so far this campaign and in all fairness, the 26-year-old’s exit would make a lot of sense to resurrect his career which has been apparently stagnating at Chelsea.
