Ethan Ampadu has signed a new five-year deal with Chelsea, the official website of the Premier League outfit have announced. Ampadu was lured to the Stamford Bridge from the ranks of Exeter City last summer for a fee of up to £2.5m, as per the reports.
The Blues have churned a shrewd move as Ampadu has already impressed a major chunk of the football fraternity with his skills and composure on the pitch. He has the ingredients to develop into an instrumental player for his club in the coming years and there is no denying that.
Ampadu is capable of plying his trade as a central defensive midfielder as well as a central defender and his versatility is one of his strongest suits. After signing the new contract, the 18-year-old said: “I’m really proud and happy, I’m looking forward to the next five years.”
The Welsh international made 7 appearances under the tutelage of former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte. Although he is yet to feature under the stewardship of Maurizio Sarri, his morale must be boosted with the new deal and thus, he has to showcase his calibre every time he is called up by Sarri.
