Lack of activities during the summer transfer window from Tottenham Hotspur raised a lot of eyebrows. Despite that, Mauricio Pochettino’s troops were impressive during their 2-1 win over Newcastle United at St. James Park last weekend.
Spurs’ midfield beast Moussa Sissoko started against the Magpies and is expected to play a key role in his side’s endeavours this season. The Frenchman garnered 47 appearances across all competitions last term and he excelled, particularly towards the end.
However, he missed out on France’s squad which lifted the World Cup in Russia. Unlike most of the fans of the north London based outfit, Sissoko is apparently unfazed by the lack of signings. On being asked on Instagram if he was angry due the same, he replied: “No, because we all believe in this team.”
Besides, he also made it clear that he isn’t going to leave the Premier League side to put any doubts over his future to bed. As Spurs failed to land any new player, letting Sissoko leave for another European club could be a huge mistake. The 29-year-old is an experienced player who is thoroughly familiar with the animosity that English top flight offers and Spurs do need him to excel this season.
