Celtic crashed out of the Champions League after AEK Athens defeated them in the qualifying round and the Celts have suffered a huge financial blow. According to Express, Celtic have to make up a £27m shortfall in revenue which is not going to be easy.
Tottenham Hotspur are apparently keen to take advantage of Celtic’s financial problems. As per one of the latest reports by Mail Online, Spurs are plotting a bid of £10m to prise Celtic sensation Kieran Tierney out of the Celtic Park during the January transfer window.
At the moment, Tierney is unarguably one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership. Many of the Premier League sides, including Spurs, were keen to sign the 21-year-old during the summer transfer window but were put off by the price tag of £25m which the Glasgow giants had slapped on his collar.
Mauricio Pochettino’s camp is now set to try their luck mid-season with a bid way lower that previous asking price for Tierney. With Danny Rose’s future in the ranks of the north London based side looking doubtful, Pochettino wants Tierney to introduce competition for Ben Davies in future for a place in the starting line-up.
