Anthony Martial was one of the few shining lights in Van Gaal’s tenure at Manchester United. The Frenchman established himself as a club favourite in no time scoring on his debut against Liverpool.
However, he has grown frustrated with the lack of playing time under Mourinho. Martial’s agent had confirmed earlier in the summer that his client wants to leave the club. Here are three clubs who should make a move for the wantaway Frenchman:
Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs are one of the most exciting teams in the Premier League. They play an attractive brand of football and are known for their high pressing approach.
In Mauricio Pochettino, they have a manager who is admired for nurturing young talent and giving them a chance to flourish on the biggest stage. Martial will benefit from playing under a manager who will place his trust in him and give him an extended run in the team.
The Frenchman will have the opportunity to line up on the left flank in the 4-2-3-1 formation and could also play in a front two with Harry Kane should Pochettino play a 3-5-2 system. Martial possesses quick feet and his dribbling is second to none. He is clinical in front of goal and will benefit from the creative abilities of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli.
The signing of Martial will satisfy both the player and the team as it will help Spurs to launch a serious bid for the title and Martial might finally realize his immense potential under the tutelage of a brilliant man manager in Pochettino.
Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich has been a preferred destination for top footballers as the club has a rich history and are considered amongst the Top 3 clubs in the world.
Last season the Bavarians clinched their 5th consecutive title and reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League where they were defeated by eventual champions Real Madrid.
However, many of their key players such as the likes of Frank Ribery(35) and Arjen Robben(30) are ageing and probably have a season or two of top-level football left in them. The duo, thus can’t be burdened with too much responsibility, in a season where Bayern are expected to challenge for trophies on all fronts. Martial will be an excellent signing for the German outfit as he could turn out to be the rightful successor to Frank Ribery.
Juventus
After signing a 5-time Ballon d’Or winner in Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus are early favourites to lift the Champions League.
They will also face competition in their quest to defend their Serie A title as the likes of AC Milan, Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli will raise their game whenever they face the Old Lady. A signing like Martial will complete a trident which may include Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala.
This trio could be lethal as it has a deadly combination of pace, trickery and finishing. Martial can also provide competition to the likes of Juan Cuadrado and Douglas Costa. The young 22-year old could rejuvenate his career after a stagnant season under Mourinho. Thus, signing the talented Frenchman might prove to be a masterstroke for the upcoming future.
