As per one of the latest reports by Mail Online, Manchester United are believed to have taken a stride to sign Kurt Zouma from Chelsea. Apart from the Red Devils, fellow Premier League outfit Everton are also keen to prise Zouma out of the Stamford Bridge.
Reportedly, Manchester United are desirous to sign him permanently, whereas the Toffees only want a loan deal. Meanwhile, the report also states that Chelsea are reluctant to sell the central defender to a rival club and that might be a stumbling block, particularly for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Mourinho has had a torrid transfer window so far and there is no denying that the Portuguese has been left frustrated by the lack of incomings into the Old Trafford. Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant have been their only new signings so far this summer.
Zouma was signed by Mourinho in 2014 when he was the manager of the London based outfit. Mourinho desperately needs a centre-back to strengthen his arsenal and having previously worked with Zouma, he is familiar with the calibre that the player possesses.
The 23-year-old spent the previous campaign out on loan with Stoke City and featured regularly in their starting line-up. However, he couldn’t save the Potters from falling into the clutches of relegation zone despite impressing at the back more often than not.
