As per one of the latest reports by Mirror, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has out Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves on his radar. Guardiola is reportedly desirous to beef up his midfield in January and Neves is someone he is believed to be interested in.
Neves was one of the instrumental players under the tutelage of Nuno Espirito Santo last season. He helped Wolves in clinching the Championship title and impliedly, in getting promoted to the Premier League. The Portuguese international has had a good start to life in top-flight as well.
Guardiola was desperate to lure Jorginho to the Etihad Stadium during the summer transfer window, but the Italian joined Chelsea. The Spaniard was frustrated owing to his side’s failure to land Jorginho and has been impressed by Neves, who has already mustered 1 goal and 1 assist in 2 league appearances. The young gun has serially drawn comparisons with Italian legend Andrea Pirlo.
The Cityzens value him at £60m and the former Bayern Munich manager is keen to utilise him as a holding midfielder. He is represented by Jorge Mendes, who already has a number of Manchester City players as his clients including Ederson and Bernardo Silva.
