After his appointment as the manager of Rangers earlier this summer, Steven Gerrard has been bold and incisive in his managerial endeavours. He has managed to beef up his arsenal incredibly in the ongoing transfer window and his men have certainly been churning dividends on the pitch.
After their 2-0 win over St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership fixture, Gerrard’s men are due to lock horns with Slovenian outfit NK Maribor tomorrow in the second leg of Europa League qualifiers. Last week, the Gers had carved a commendable 3-1 win at the Ibrox Stadium in the first-leg.
Despite their advantage, Gerrard is apparently in no mood to sit back. Rather, he wants his entourage to go out all guns blazing in the away fixture as he believes that his side have the required firepower to hurt Maribor. This is certainly a huge statement of intent from the former Liverpool skipper.
He said: “At some point Maribor are going to have to take some risks in the game and I will pick a team with enough attacking talent to hopefully go and hurt them. This is not a case of us coming here to hang on and try to grind through the 90 minutes in order to get over the line.”
